Our World and What to do About It.
We are blessed by living in a time of great change. If the world around you appears chaotic, you don’t need to have your eyes checked, your perception is correct. Old systems that no longer serve us are collapsing to make way for the new. That scenario/situation is challenging enough and is compounded by the absence of new systems to replace the old. The river is rising and there are no lifeboats in sight.
This has been a difficult year for almost everyone, but 2012 promises to bring the foundations of the new, and an opportunity to sweep out the remnants of our past.
The economic system of the U.S. and many western nations is shifting to a new paradigm, sometimes by collapsing. The middle east is shifting away from monarchy and autocratic rule to an uncertain future. Democracy perhaps, but they will create their own destiny as they see fit.
The political system of the U.S. is deadlocked in a quagmire of old ideas and concepts that no longer serve us.
And all these events, and many others. create a discomfort level with the populace, you and I.
But there are steps we can take to lower not only our anxiety level, but that of the world. The answers are within. All change is created in thought before it manifests in our physical world. If you want to change the world, or your country, or just your neighborhood, start with yourself. Many of us are already on the spiritual journey within. To those that are, I suggest you accelerate your pace.
To those who haven’t begun, it is not too late to start. An excellent place to facilitate your progress is a group meditation. Find one that you feel comfortable in and contributes to your development. Don’t give up what you are already doing, just add a group to your process. There are other steps you can take, but this is an easy one for most people and there are more opportunities than can be crammed into this one column.
One of the many nice attributes of spiritual development is that the positive energy it generates is far more powerful than the negative energy that now pervades our world. It isn’t like a vote in a democracy. We don’t need a majority of the votes to prevail. There is a consensus among spiritual authors that we can probably change the face of our country and our world with a mere 1 % of the population on the same page at the same time. That seems very doable to me.
I would like to hear from those who would like to participate, or just report on their own personal progress.
